Ingredient Glossary

Every ingredient in a Ritua formula is here, with what it is, where it sits in the range, and what it is traditionally used for. No proprietary blends, no undisclosed doses. If it is in the capsule, it is on this page.

Botanicals and mushrooms

Bacopa, as BacoMind (Bacopa monnieri)

In: Focus, 150mg per capsule from 3g whole plant.
Traditionally used for: supporting mental recall, mental function and mental wellbeing in ageing individuals.

BacoMind is a standardised, clinically studied bacopa extract rather than a generic powder, which is why the dose is stated rather than hidden in a blend.

Cordyceps (Cordyceps sinensis)

In: Focus, 150mg per capsule from 600mg dry fruiting body.
A functional mushroom long used in traditional Chinese medicine, included here alongside the nootropic botanicals.

Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba)

In: Focus, 60mg per capsule from 3g dry leaf.
Traditionally used for: supporting cognitive function, memory and mental concentration, and maintaining brain health and function.

Kava (Piper methysticum)

In: Sleep, 250mg per capsule from 750mg dry root, equivalent to 25mg kavalactones.
Traditionally used for: in Pacific Islands medicine, to induce sleep and aid mind and muscle relaxation.

Kava is not for prolonged use and may harm the liver. Read the full warnings on the product page before taking it.

KSM-66 Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera)

In: Stress, 300mg per capsule from 3.75g dry root.
Traditionally used for: in Ayurvedic medicine, as an adaptogen to help the body adapt to stress and support a healthy stress response.

KSM-66 is a named, standardised extract. Generic ashwagandha is not the same thing, and the distinction is why we name it.

Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis)

In: Stress, 150mg per capsule from 1.5g dry leaf.
Traditionally used for: in Western herbal medicine, as a nervine to support general mental wellbeing and healthy emotional balance.

Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata)

In: Sleep, 75mg per capsule from 1.5g dry herb top flowering.
Traditionally used for: in Western herbal medicine, to relieve sleeplessness and to relieve feelings of weariness and fatigue.

Reishi Mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum)

In: Sleep at 150mg per capsule from 3g dry fruiting body, and Stress at 300mg from 3g dry fruiting body.
Traditionally used for: in traditional Chinese medicine, to relieve sleeplessness and reduce the time taken to fall asleep, and to support general health and wellbeing.

The only ingredient that appears in two Ritua formulas, at different doses for different jobs.

Saffron (Crocus sativus)

In: Stress, 5mg per capsule from 15mg dry stigma.
The smallest dose in the range by weight, and one of the most expensive ingredients per gram in the whole formula.

Aminos and minerals

Creatine Monohydrate

In: Creatine for Women and Creatine for Men, 3g per serve, 100% micronised.
Used for: supporting muscle strength and power, and helping with muscle recovery after exercise.

One of the most researched sports supplements in existence. Micronised simply means milled finer so it mixes without grit. Unflavoured, single ingredient, nothing else in the tub.

L-Glutamine

In: L-Glutamine, 3g per serve.
The most abundant amino acid in the body. Commonly used after training or during demanding periods to support muscle recovery and gut integrity. Single ingredient, third party lab tested, no fillers or sweeteners.

Magnesium Glycinate

In: Magnesium Glycinate, 877mg magnesium glycinate dihydrate per capsule, equivalent to 100mg elemental magnesium.
Used for: supporting muscle function and relaxation, helping relieve muscle cramps when dietary intake is inadequate, and helping maintain refreshing sleep.

Glycinate is magnesium bound to the amino acid glycine. It is the form most people tolerate without the digestive upset that oxide and citrate can cause, which matters when you are taking it every night.

Tyrosine

In: Focus, 100mg per capsule.
An amino acid used by the body in the production of neurotransmitters.

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride)

In: Focus, 6.1mg per capsule, equivalent to 5mg pyridoxine.
Used for: aiding the synthesis of neurotransmitters and supporting the health and function of the nervous system.

Electrolytes and sweeteners

Sodium, from Australian sea salt

In: Hydrate, 1000mg per serve.
The body's primary electrolyte, central to fluid balance and rehydration. 1000mg per serve is at the higher end of what is available, which is deliberate.

Potassium, as potassium citrate

In: Hydrate, 190mg per serve.
Works alongside sodium in fluid balance, nerve signalling and muscle function.

Magnesium, as magnesium citrate

In: Hydrate, 70mg per serve.
The citrate form is used here rather than glycinate because it dissolves cleanly in water.

Stevia and Monk Fruit

In: Hydrate.
Both are naturally derived sweeteners. Hydrate contains no added sugar and no artificial sweeteners.
